the problem i have with this is simply this - while i don't define myself by my sexuality, a lot of other people do. i have seen too many people referred to as the gay guy, the gay couple, the lesbian, the , the fag, as if that's all they are. i'm just a girl in love with another girl. it goes both ways. i am so much more than just a lesbian and if people are overly proud of it, perhaps it's because they feel they have to be, they have to be a little bit in your face to make a point such as; yeah, i'm gay, and guess what? i'm still a good person. accept me as who i am, not despite of who i am.

One statement can sum it up so perfectly.

Me too!
It looks fantastic, well done guys

I would have thought 'an ecstasy' of erotic writers would be most apt.

I like 'ecstasy'
Anybody else wonder what score Fifty Shades would have if submitted to Lush?
I will always vote and comment when I read a story.
As a writer, feedback is important because it is the only way you can gain a realistic impression of your work and know what you need to do to improve.
I read hundreds of stories on Lush before I joined and really wish I had done it sooner.
As and when the mood takes make, which seems to be a lot recently.
Perhaps something to do with an erotic literature website I've heard about, Lush something or other?
I probably average 3-4 but if I'm in a particularly naughty mood I can go all day.

I have one story with over 30,000 views - and it's not an " " story, so I think we agreed that counts double, right? ;)

But it does have the magic word "Schoolgirl" in the title, so that probably helped.

I must admit that (being a bit of an attention whore) I noticed that stories got a lot of reads, and deliberately wrote one just to see if I could get lots too. Of course, it didn't do as well as those of other writers, and a couple of my regular readers commented that it wasn't up to my usual standard. So I learnt a lesson from that - just write what you enjoy, and hopefully others will sense your sincerity and enjoy them too.

But I must admit I do still check my stats...so I'm not totally cured sad

Giving away trade secrets Annie?
Thinking about it, that is a magic word...

I enjoyed this collection. Very clever.

EDIT: Why were you reading the Daily Mail?

Ha ha! Trust you.
As you asked, I wasn't.
I saw the Daily Mail link from another website.
I'm a big fan of Iain Banks. This will be a real loss for the literary world.

Author Iain Banks has revealed that he has late stage cancer and is unlikely to live for more than a year.
The Scottish writer posted a message on his official website saying his next novel The Quarry, due to be published later this year, would be his last.
The 59-year-old's novels include The Wasp Factory, The Crow Road, Complicity and the Culture series. The statement said his health problems came to light when he saw his doctor, suffering from a sore back. He was diagnosed with jaundice, before further tests established the full extent of his illness.
In the personal statement on his website, Banks said he had asked his partner Adele to marry him and was now on a short honeymoon.

I'm all for ideas and creativity but I think completely taking it upon yourself to redecorate should be run past the boss a bit before posting it in the forum, maybe its just me, I find it disrespectful. I see the aim and the good, but come on, this is Nicola's brainchild, she's not daft.

Hi CD,
Oh, I'm sorry you feel that way. I didn't mean any disrespect at all.
Sometimes it's just easier for me to Photoshop something up as opposed to explaining it in words.
That way it tends to avoid the inevitable:

- How big were you thinking?
- Where would it go exactly?
- What would it look like?
- ecetera…

It is more of an aid for everyone else than anything; to allow people to visualise what it is exactly that I had in mind.
That way, perhaps it's easier to garner a better consensus of general opinion?
I'm sure Nicola knows I'm only trying to be helpful - she's a big girl and can make her own mind up.

I think it's a good idea for the competition links to be more prominent, generally, but I don't like the extra banner, sorry. Incorporate it into the site topmost banner on a slow roll if you needed to, maybe?

Maybe cut the amount of featured members in half, speed up the feature time, and use the rest of the space for site ads? I like the book ads as they are, as it's always the first thing that draws my eyes on the home page. I don't know why. Maybe one eye has a lazy drift and takes the other one there with it.

That's fine
It was only a suggestion to see what everyone else thought.
I wasn't actually aware of any front page notifications for things like the competition so this seemed like a good idea at the time.
I like the idea of sharing the 'featured members' banner actually - good shout!

Joking. I like it, I prefer it to the countless 'headless hunk' shots. It differentiates you in a good way.
