Thanks. She's a feisty little 9-month-old with a lot of personality that won't go down for her nap. Mommyhood at it's finest.

Congrats! You will have 12 years of near-bliss. After that they turn into teenagers. smile

Just finished mowing the lawn, with a push mower no less (it's what I do instead of join a gym). An ice cold Miller Lite please. I generally hate light beer, but it's a perfect thirst quencher after yardwork.

I don't like Monty Python
Or The Beatles
Or Tottenham Hotspur

I like Monty Python.
I like the Beatles.
I don't know what a Tottenham Hotspur is.

I've been searching for a gif with a pole dancing Godzilla wearing kitty ears, a collar, and dressed in black leather & fishnets. I knew Verbs would like that. It could be the theme for his next Shard. Just can't find one. If any of you have time...

Sounds like me on a Saturday night. smile

Happy Friday everyone.

I have greatly shortened the number of stories on my sig line. This will hopefully keep Bill's screen reader from spending 20 minutes reading my list of stories. That's gotta be annoying.

Drove youngest to school, who realized half-way there she'd forgotten her homework, so we drove back home to get it, drove back to school, let her out, and half-way home saw she had left her homework in the car. Drove back, left it for her at the office.

Ah, parenthood.

After noon, yet I am still drinking köffee. That kinda day.

The series doesn't get that far but it does take liberties with other things. Gillian Anderson plays Lecter's psychiatrist and later his "wife". It is a very creepy but well-done series. I love creepy shows so it is perfect for me.

I am looking forward to HBO's adaption of Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451.

OMG! Gillian Anderson!!! I love her. I may give it a try.

That gives me an excuse to play one of my favorite three minutes in the history of television.

Good evening my fellow bar patrons. (Makes us all seem fancy)

I am for reasons I don't fully understand watching the Caps game against Tampa Bay this evening now. The Caps are up two games to one but not sure how they will do tonight The last time they played Tampa in the playoffs they were up two games to none and then lost four straight games. I am hoping that is not the case this year.

I'll take something soothing to calm my nerves. Or maybe just a beer, something Canadian please if you have it.

Cheers Everyone!

Hey all.

Serve the lovely Gill a LaBatts. I'll have one myself. Go Caps!

The new Shard, Wow, just got an RR. I also added two very Lush-specific lines of dialogue like ten minutes ago, inspired by Ping's comment on the story. So he's sort of a co-author at this point. Ping, you magnificent bastard!

https://www.lushstories.com/stories/flash-erotica/shard-743-wow.aspx

AND I just finished the first draft of a new Shard. Good writing day.
I own, and can play, a Theremin.

I'm not as good as this chick though (the solo begins about 1:25, but this whole clip is amazing).

It's nice to see Rump's name on here more than once when it comes to critiquing. He's a master at it. I've also been helped by CurvyGalore (most recently!), Layla, MollyDoll, Ravenstar, Shannon3K, a few others.

I agree that the site is not designed to encourage critiques and extensive rewrites. The mods make sure spelling and grammar and basic story-telling are correct. Most people just want to hear good things about their writing, and there is nothing wrong with that. I would rather not score than give anyone under a 5. And while I try to critique most stories I read, I stick to the things in a story that work the best and try to point them out.

If you want a critique with constructive criticism, you might need to reach out and ask (that's what I do, though not often, as I am a bit of a control freak when it comes to my writing). Someone you know and trust, someone whose writing you enjoy.
I must confess I've been pretty lax about reading contest entries, though I think I have read all the entries from the patrons of this fine establishment. Please let me know if I missed yours.

Not very talkative this morning, nothing is wrong, I just can't seem to get my brain to fully wake up.

The answer to that is, of course: köffee!

what were his reasons for leaving here? People are posting something about the former category...

Yes. He disapproved strongly of Lush reinstating the category. So did another really good writer: VirgoGo. She left too.

Coffee is coming for Fuzzy and Jeff.

I'm clueless on many things, including the Lush stime-stamping protocols. That said, odds are good that Jeff has now finished his 'unpleasant task' and Fuzzy has noticed it's mid-afternoon in his neck of the woods.

Therefore, by the power vested in me as the only person actually working behind the bar, I'm including a chaser of Jameson with each order. They are, of course, only provided for medicinal purposes...honest.

Anybody else out there feel the need for some liquid surcease from sorrow? If so, then whadda ya wanna drink?

My unpleasant task went MUCH better than expected. Yay for unexpected goodness!

I'll take that free shot of Fuzziness!

My Mets are getting stomped on by mere Canadians this afternoon.
Silence from my alarm clock. And the soft breathing of Layla to let me know she is sleeping next to me.
Morning all.

As Bill pointed out yesterday, TouchofGrey's (that the name of a Grateful Dead song!) story is excellent, and I heartily recommend it too.

Sara'a comp entry is quite good too - how can you not love a story that ended up with the couple sleeping in the bed of a pickup, staring at the stars. I've spent several nights that way myself.

I have an unpleasant task in about an hour. Wish me luck.

Köffee please.

Dammit. Why am I always "it" in any game of tag? *sighing and opening Google Drive*

Yay!

One of the first Penthouse Letters type stories I ever read involved elevator frottage. Started out hot, ended up goofy. Even as a kid I knew it was badly written porn.

(Thanks for the wedding presents, Jen.)

Ha. It's yours. I wrote my one story about work ("Tension") and so I'm good.

I didn't experience it. You did. So you have to write it.

Tag! You're it!
I think the apology is a graceful gesture, you are discreetly acknowledging what happened and letting him know you didn't take offence. It saves everyone embarrassment. I would feel relieved and grateful.

This would make a great Flash, by the way. No added sex scene, just the fleeting incident in the elevator.
It's about that chick in The Odyssey who lures men to the shores of her island and turns them into pigs. It's supposed to be a subversive, feminist take on the story. Frankly, my eye was drawn to the review in the Sunday paper because newspaper spell check had changed the headline from "Circe" to "Circle." It looks good.

Also rewatching Hannibal (all three seasons are now on Amazon Prime). I hated to see them cancel the show. They did a good job bringing Thomas Harris' characters and stories to life. I personally think Mads Mikkelsen was a much better Hannibal than Anthony Hopkins. The series was pretty graphic for network television.

I loved the first two Harris books (I read Silence of the Lambs twice), but I got so pissed off after reading the end of the third one. **SPOILER ALERT** No way would Clarice have married Hannibal. It goes against everything either character is about, and made me feel cheated. Does the show has that premise? If not, I might give it a shot.

I will try Ozark.

I am a sucker for dumb half-hour sit-coms, and my new go-to (I said this in another post today) is New Girl on Netflix. It's goofy and funny.
Double post. But I gotta say, the guy above me is kind of a dick.

Lush life, not accomplishing much writing (ie not at all) these days.

Real life, keeping busy taking care of aging parents, doing bookkeeping and payroll for my husband's company and once the pool is open giving swimming lessons.
Getting ready to tackle some home improvement projects that I've put off for far too long.

I get the feeling that I won't be getting much sleep tonight. More health worries for family members.

I'll take a Hannah and try to find some television to bore me to sleep.

Cheers Everyone!

Hope you got some sleep. My new insomnia companion is watching New Girl on Netflix. I don't find Zoey Deshanel (not gonna bother to look up how to spell it) that hot or anything, but it is a very funny show. Try it!

Friends reruns I've seen 10,000 times work too.

So, because I am worried my story will get lost under this week's (and next week's) Shards, here is a small pimp for it again. I'm very proud of it, and it's not on my sig line or anything, and I hope it will get a few more reads.

Köffee please.
Ironman 1 and 2. RDJ is really good and the character is kind of a dick. I saw these right before I got sick of superhero movies in general and the endless parade of 20 minute fight scenes. I suppose Wonder Woman and Black Panther were good, l saw them, I am just too burnt out on the genre.

The Incredibles was good, though I don't know if it qualifies. Also, the first Spider-Man 2 (does that even make sense?) with Alfred Molina playing Dr. Oct was good (trivia note - Michael Chabon got a screenwriting credit on it).

Oh, and Deadpool made me LOL several times.
This is a thing? I've been driving for decades and have (thankfully) never seen anyone jerking off in a car before. Nor, I hasten to add, have I.

Creepy or adorable? Researchers at Harvard University have demonstrated the first autonomous, untethered, entirely soft robot: the octobot.
Instead of being controlled by electronics, the robot’s logic board is powered by chemical reactions and fluid passing along tiny channels. Scientist have struggled to create completely soft robots because rigid components like circuit boards, power sources and electronic controls are difficult to replace.

Why, adorable, of course!
