About billy

Former lush, current lushie. By most accounts, a gentleman except when I'm not.

I am originally from South Bend, Indiana, where they used to manufacture Studebakers. I had a childhood full of snow and Catholic guilt, but Life is good and oftentimes even fine, despite all the pain and crap one has to wade through. More and more I just tolerate snow now, and thankfully guilt has given way to occasional outbursts of unbridled joy in matters of the flesh.

My avatars are often barometers of how I feel. I like having fun with them. Most of the time, I am my avatar. Other times not.

I tend to saddle up and vanish from here at times. It's usually not because I'm upset or mad, but simply trying to put things into some sort of perspective. I'm of a certain age and I've been trying to find an oftentimes elusive spiritual balance, which can be difficult when one is up to one's neck in blow job gifs.

Alas, I'm afraid that I can be an unrepentant smartass at times, which occasionally gets me into hot water.

I am drawn here to people with wit, charm, honesty, and openness. I'm usually out for a chuckle and a hug, but sometimes I have been known to go for a slap and tickle, cybernetically. A little naughty never killed anybody. Even more rarely, I'll pop out a story or poem, but I think I may well be the world's laziest writer.

I bat left-handed but I throw right. And can't lay off the high hard ones.

I like well written stories and poetry and I like erotic photography, particularly black and whites. I don't generally care much for what I call "open heart surgery" erotica. I have my own tumblr page that I post on frequently that shows my interests, I think. Take a peek, the link is below.

I love good music played loud. And I have a dog named Maggie May who owns my heart lock stock and barrel. Her picture is in my photo album somewhere. Rascally little bitch.
Favorite Books:
Catch-22. Another Roadside Attraction. Even Cowgirls Get the Blues. Tarzan and the Jewels of Opar. Time Enough for Love. The Catcher in the Rye. For Whom the Bell Tolls. A Moveable Feast. I also like poetry. My library card is well used.
Favorite Authors:
Kurt Vonnegut, Robert Heinlein, Hunter Thompson, Jack Kerouac, Tom Robbins, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Charles Bukowski. J.D. Salinger, e e cummings, Hemingway, Snyder, Corso, Ginsburg, Heller, Royko, Kazantzakis, on and on.
Favorite Movies:
Aw, who really cares? I'm a film nut so there's a lot.
Favourite TV Shows:
I don't watch too much TV anymore, which is weird since I used to be in the TV business. Most TV programming is shit.
Favorite Music:
I know it when I hear it. I like to explore different genres. I'm particularly fond of samba, Motown, the Great American Songbook, the classic singers/songwriters, some of the new stuff, and vocal jazz. Kat Edmonson is a recent find. John Prine. Sinatra, J.J. Cale, Mark Knopfler. Railroad Earth. Nicola Conte. Antonio Carlos Jobim. Lucinda Williams. Supertramp. Al Green, Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield. Leonard Cohen.

by the winds of change
you shall know them
new faces
a familiar yet strange
shuffling of features
in mysterious patterns
each with its own
beauty and each
in its way
fascinating and forever new

Recommended Read Josie in Tombstone

After all the noise and smoke and killings of 1881, Tombstone, Arizona began attracting scribes the way a buffalo corpse attracts vultures and flies. It seemed as if every newspaper back East had to have an eyewitness account of the big shootout between the Earps and the Clantons. These overly romantic seekers of Truth and Beauty inevitably ended up sitting across from Big Minnie, buying...

“Darkness is its own kingdom, It moves to its own laws, And many living things dwell in it.” -Patricia McKillip My kind is startling to humans when we are accidentally glimpsed, cloaked in night’s dark mystery. We are a unique type of were-folk, with an appearance more feline than wolfen, and of course werewolves are far more prevalent in your mythologies. We learned long ago to...

Editor's Pick The Inheritance

I am a farmer of fertile Kansas fields, considered by most to be a kind man with a welcoming smile. A pillar of the small farming community I call home, an elder at my church, and decent enough looking that women have commented on it over the years, particularly my blue eyes, which contrast with my weathered skin, I guess. I always choose my words carefully with men and women alike, and I like...

I am the beast that you feel in the night bold girl walking alone in the dark self assurance in your every stride when you return to your home I watch for you I am the whisper you thought that you heard the word that did not quite register at first Your name, whispered soft, silent as a spring wind the name I cannot resist using as a form of worship I am quiet and motionless as you saunter by...

Recommended Read Happy New Year, 1976

Jill walked through the front door of the Bluebird Bar covered with snow. She got a mischievous grin on her face when she saw me. She walked up to my station and set her large thermos on the bar between us. She had on a huge over-sized knit hat and mittens that matched her black pea coat. It was obviously starting to come down pretty thick outside. It had only been flurries when I had started...

She was a new girl. I had seen her sometimes, strolling through the market, taking her time, enjoying the booths and the people. I never saw her actually purchase anything but she always had a smile for those trying to get a sale out of her, before gently refusing and moving on. My poor booth never drew her attention until today when she stopped in front of me, offering an impish smile...

Many years later, after taking my virginity, Rosie would tell me that it was what I wrote to her in third grade that initially endeared me to her. A couple mean boys had taunted her about her skin color on the playground and I was a silent observer of the incident. My heart went out to her when I saw her lower lip tremble, followed closely by a steady stream of large tears wetting her...

I’m so hungry from your love, My sweet child. We tossed all morning Now toss me a salad. Something fresh With tart and crunch to it. Peel off and carefully Tear some fresh purple-veined Romaine As I watch with sleepy sated eyes. Next a small wedge of iceberg Crisp and scrumptious. I am still savoring your girlish taste In my mouth, And your face...

I can’t go very long these days before I get the desire to see her Her eyes, her smile her body I feel an ache, a craving eating away inside of me An itch that I can’t scratch myself I need to feel the touch of she who cares for me and has a similar ache within her self I tell myself I’m my own man again  and I've got places to see and wander through alone Before...

Pillow Time

I do so love the storm of you. The wild wet winds of your passion Unleashed Unbound Untamed. But it is after the storm, when the calm sets back in and we lie entwined together, those are the moments I crave when apart. “Pillow time” you called it once. Those long quiet moments. No words No sounds No urgency. That is when I seek your eyes with my eyes...
