I wonder if it's okay to change a competition story well after the competition is over.

Working backwards is actually a really good way to write a story. There are some stories I gave up on simply because I didn't know how to end it. There is one particular story I entered into one of the competitions that I really hated how I ended it. I wonder if it's okay to change a competition story well after the competition is over.
Thank you for not thinking I’m weird. 😀 I used to sit and write top to bottom in one sitting. Now it’s in pieces that I later try to connect, and I almost always start with the ending. I kinda need to know the ending to write the journey, now. I also record my stories now and play back to fix rough patches and flow issues.

Sure it is
FYI, I once made a change to a competition entry (Going with the Flow, in the 2021 Proud and Kinky contest) after the competition was over, and it was removed from the official roster of the comp.
I don't think that happens if you later change categories, add a cover image or assign it to a series (all of which I have done without issue after comps ended), but might happen if you change the body of the story, since it is no longer as you entered it.

Wow, that's impresisve. It's very rare I do that. Not for a long time, and even then it was probably Flash.
I've occasionally done the ending and worked back. But more often than not I'll have a spark of a story beat—some line or a moment—usually occurring somewhere in the middle. I'll jot it down, then work out from there, backwards and forwards to build it in. Sometimes, if that moment is killer, I'll restructure the story and put it first to grab attention.
For the obsession comp though, so far nada. I'm letting the brief roll around the back of my head and hope something pops out.

There is nothing weird about you, Kimmi. 😊 With me, normally, I write the first couple of paragraphs before switching to the end and getting that finished. Then, join the two up. I also have my stories read to me via the read-aloud button, for the same reasons as you record yours, Kimmi. However, I have never been able to write any story in one sitting, even micro's... so I'm seriously impressed. 😎😘

Weird?! More like awesome! I can't imagine being able to do that. It usually takes me weeks and weeks to get inspired enough to finish a full first draft. Then I seem to go into binge-editing mode for a week or so (just did - latest story is in review right now), revising over and over again, before I'm ready to publish.
Re: the competition ... I think I have my idea. Remarkably, I came up with this one just a few days ago, before the comp was announced. The category is either Cheating or Mind Control, depending on exactly how it plays out. My initial vision wasn't necessarily obsessive, but 7500 words will give me more than enough room to make it so.
EDIT: after getting the thing outlined, I don’t see it going under Mind Control, “just” Cheating. But it will be obsessive.

Keep in mind I’ve always written the short ones. I never wrote anything 3K or up like that. And as I said, now I can only write in pieces…

My series about Chloe the dominating stepdaughter who controls her submissive stepmother has finished. It all started with Her Panties but does it end Happily Ever After?

Wow! I thought I was a fast writer! Two stories (one long) already in!
I really love competing with y’all in comps here, so trying to pivot from the children’s stories I’ve been writing to a smutty obsession story. 🤣 It’s a big pivot. 🤣
My entry will be short like me, but hopefully a good read. In my usual fashion, I wrote the ending, and am now working my way backward. 😊
Happy Writing, Lushies
I usually have the ending mapped out. Always the introduction. It's filling in the spaces between and making sure they connect that's a bugger.
My entry, Finding Calista, is now online! I'd really appreciate your support! Likes, comments, critiques! Any feedback is good feedback!
Thanks!

It is with immense pleasure and considerable relief that I can announce that my competition entry is now posted. 'Midnight Satin' is inspired by the Hollywood musicals, romantic comedies, and war movies of the 1940s. It's light-hearted and a bit of fun. If you do read it, please leave a comment. All feedback is greatly appreciated. btw I've loved the other entries I've read so far. Kudos to you all.
If rules are made to be broken, where does that leave regulations?

Oh, and I just realized the competition got even harder.
Queued. And best of luck.
