I did the same thing and am now gradually re-adding them to my stories. I have to download the picture again and add it to my gallery and resubmit the story with a note to the mod's that I am just adding that picture not looking to have it appear again on the front page. They (mods) have been kindly, patiently doing that for me. Thanks again everyone! The mods here really are the best.

Back to topic, I do love the group discussions thread. Fantastic idea, it will just take me awhile as usual to figure it out.
Then again, anything new always does.

The @mentions in Groups don't seem to do anything. Or is that just suggested protocol?

I noticed some other issues on the group edit page:

- Under the tags field it says "A comma seperated list of keywords people can use to find your group". But if you do use commas, either just "," or ", " they will be replaced by a space after submitting the form and seperate tags and up as a single spaced tag in the tag cloud.

- Changes in tags are not updated in real time in the tag cloud, which means that the tag cloud may contain tags that are not bound to a single group.

- It's standard form behviour that when a normal text input has focus and you hit enter the form that the input belongs to will submit. On the edit page though the form data is not submitted, but you will navigate to https://www.lushstories.com/search-results.aspx?query=Search%20Stories. This is quite odd and confusing behaviour.

Could closed groups ("by invite only") get an aditional marker, like a lock similar to password protected chat rooms, to make it clear they're closed?

I've only glanced at the groups and joined a select few so I didn't know some could be "closed" or private. However, seeing this suggestion makes a lot of sense and I'm sure Gav can come up with a simple solution.

You did a real good job with the feature Gav. Especially since you've been updating it here and there. The recently active group display and tag search now work and the custom avatar is a nice touch.

A few more things to consider if you aren't already thinking about them.

It would be nice to have an edit feature to fix typos.

Also if you use an @ symbol plus someones exact username it would be cool if that persons avatar appeared so it's more obvious when someone is directing a post at them while you're perusing the discussions. Like if someone puts @gav a humping storm trooper appears at the start of the post. An alert in the timeline would be cool too.

Also if you're the owner of a group and you go to delete a post it seems sorta pointless that the system sends you a message to your inbox so that you can tell yourself why you deleted a post. If it needs to be that way because it's tied together with mods you appoint and if they delete a message than I suppose it's just more of an annoyance rather than a bug or anything.

I actually agree with a lot of Jacks ideas and would like to see them too (shocker)

Weird tho I just started getting emails about the group thread which I am only a member of one and it tells me that a comment has been made on a group that I created?? I didn't create the group Jack did I just joined?

I'm still trying to work out what we need from an email alert. Suggestions?
Perhaps an email when a comment is made on a discussion you've participated in and an email when a new discussion is created.
This would be across all groups you are subscribed to.

With the Delete email, I dont suppose you were deleting your own post? If not can you send me the message you got.

I have fixed all these issues. I dont know what I was thinking, a map/reduce job for 8 documents. Big data boys smile

I actually disabled the email option this morning as I had an inbox full of email notifications which I didn't really need to see. I don't personally think an email being sent is required, just a note on my timeline is sufficient enough for me tbh.

I only pointed out what the email said because you know how picky some people can be over inaccuracies?

Thx, but there are still some issues. Some may be by choice though:

- The form still doesn't submit on enter, but I guess that's by choice as the 'edit group', 'block member' and 'delete group' options seem to be lumped together in a single form. Still a big improvement over the previous experience.

- Changes in tags are still not updated in real time. I understand why you wouldn't want to count all the tags on page request, but a cache clearing/recount on tag changes might be a nice compromise.

- The top tags (the ones that count 3) all seem to be off by 1.

- There's an empty space tag in the list. If someone might be willing to start a group about physics, perhaps they could adopt it ;)

- Is there a max to the number of tags a group can have, or are some words grouped togeteher as synonyms? I previously used three tags for my group, but only the first two showed up.

- Trailing spaces and commas in the tags field seem to be trimmed off, but leading spaces and commas do not. This may be what caused the empty tag.

- A preview option like in the forum would be nice. Asking for a friend who seems to be having problems posting videos ;P


As for the forum: bulleted and numbered list options could be handy ;)

Not sure if the @mention thingy is working. Someone did it to me today, spelled my name correctly and everything, but it didn't show up in my timeline. I double checked to make sure it wasn't just me overlooking it or something.

And yes, it was my own post I deleted. So it makes sense that I recieved an email from myself.

Was summoned by Thou Shall Not Have Fun Police Officer Dani to change the Cockoon's avatar and while borifying the group's public appearance I noticed two minor issues:

- I could not just upload the new avatar to replace the old one. It just didn't work. Got no message why not, but nothing happened. I needed to delete the original avatar first before the new avatar was accepted. I guess Gav liked the old one better as well. Anyway, the interface suggests that it should not be necessary to delete the old one before a new one can be uploaded, so I guess it's a bug.

- The differentGroup lists seem to use different ways of caching avatars. My Groups shows the new avatar, while Recently Active Groups still shows the old one:

I don't get what the deal is with the avatar. Hell... Glory Hole has a more... graphic image than what you had. The new one is humorous and made me giggle..
