The Epstein files: bringing down a demagogue

The most recent polling shows Trumps approval down to 37% among voters. It was unexpected that independents and Democrats would oppose a child abuser of that magnitude, but all of us wondered how MAGA and the rest of the GOP would react.

The numbers on that side are interesting. 40% of the GOP, obviously the hard-core Maga still support Donald Trump, despite his obvious complicity with Jeffrey Epstein.

Surprisingly 36% of Republicans now disapprove of him with the rest undecided. The Republicans are obviously headed for disaster in November 2026, but we may be seeing something more significant. We might be seeing an actual splintering of Maga from the Republican Party. I don’t expect the 60% of the people doubting Trump now to suddenly become good people, but at least it’s good to know they’re not completely inhumane and immoral. They might be fine with bankrupting the poor and enriching the wealthy, but at least some of them actually do care about the children so it would seem.

Don't delude yourself. They'll all still vote Republican in the mid-terms.

I don’t expect them vote to Democrat by any means. But elections without Donald Trump and them have shown that they don’t tend to show up at the polls in massive numbers. I think that result is very likely.

And now, Mike Johnson has broken with Trumps claim that the Epstein Files are a Hoax. He’s said that those on the file are evil.

That is quite a departure from Trumps attempt to defuse the accusations. It will be interesting to see how Trump reacts to that. And however he does, it will be telling us if this is a break or a strategy

Watching Alex Jones break down in tears over this was a particular highlight for me on this topic.

If Trump had just released the list and said he didn’t know anything about trafficking the MAGA squad would have bought it 100% because they don’t want to acknowledge his crimes. The denial, dodging and minimising has him cooked and I love to see it. I’m not entirely sure who is in charge of his PR but they must be voting blue. It’s giving sabotage level bad.

I believe Trump is organizing this himself if you can even use the word organize. Trump isn’t wanting to take advice from anybody and he’s always gotten away with everything so there was no reason for him to think this would be otherwise.

I think he’s in shock. And I think those around him in power realize he’s on the list and that he’s not gonna survive this.

So now they’re starting to jump ship like the other rats throughout history. The last use he had for them was his ability of motivate people for the upcoming midterms, and now his endorsement isn’t gonna be worth much of anything.

The irony of all of this is the deep state he’s always complained about, may end up being the instrument of his own destruction

The only way this is gonna go away is if the Democrats wanted to go away too. But then that’s another issue altogether.

Well sure. And I'm certain democrats are also on that list.

And people are treating it like some kinda gotcha. I want any and all predators on that list brought to the light and punished accordingly, regardless of political affiliation.

Unfortunately I think you're spot on.

She can lie all she likes, but eventually the Epstein files will get released, maybe by subpoena.

In the meantime Trump is going to lie, delay, obfuscate and do everything in his power to stop them from seeing the light of day.

He's also daring the Democrats and the legal authorities to do their job.

Since all the legal authorities report to him or are afraid of DOJ repercussions, they won't do much. As for the Dems, who knows what they are willing to do now or whether they'll wait until closer to the 2026 elections to use this as ammo.

'Funny' how in Europe many Epstein acquaintances have already had to resign, or have been stripped of their privileges, but in the US only a single woman has been held accountable so far.

The coin-operated prezzy may dodge this one too although I really hope I am wrong. I'd guess the Dems are being careful about showing their hand too soon before the midterms so as to not give the MAGA set time to mitigate any impacts. The Reprobates are gonna try something to save the midterms be it the usual "election was stolen" nonsense or maybe by trying to buy off voters with that $2000 payout that was mentioned (then subsequently forgotten...'did I say that'?)

My biggest concern is the desperation of the GOP; a whole pile of them are looking at jail time if the Dems take power so there's no telling how far they might go.

Oh please. They are not ready to see the culling on either side of the aisle, especially with the name Clinton out there. Sure, a few like Rogan may get taken down, but there are a LOT of D names that have yet to be exposed. They thought this was a gun, and they are now realizing it's a bomb, and they are standing right next to it. now they have to figure away to step back before half the government comes tumbling down
