Obsession

“Something or someone that you think about all the time.”

Despite the negative connotations of the word, obsessions don’t have to be unhealthy. Maybe it’s a first love and you sit dreaming of them until the next time you can touch again.

Perhaps a new partner has introduced you to a new sexual experience, so intense, so mind-blowing that all you can think about is the way it had you writhing and squirming and cumming until you were a spent wreck.

Or just maybe, it is an obsession with a slightly darker bent. We have horror, reluctance and mind control categories on Lush. It’s an extra challenge for writers to write in those categories and stick to the consent rule, but when people get it right, the stories can be pretty intense.

As always, don’t limit your imagination. You can write in any main category (no poetry, flash or micro) and have any number of sexual partners for your characters. Use the category descriptions to get additional ideas.

Stories should have a maximum of 7,500 words. This competition will run until the end of September and winners will be announced Oct 13th.

Please see here for full details.

Could it be an old flame, perhaps. Someone you lost and desperately want to get back? I would assume specifics are open to some interpretation

The Wild Girl anthology need not be read in any order but does take place in the following timeframe

Wild at Heart- 1968. The story of Dani’s Great Aunt Evie.

Wild Child. 2025. Dani is now 20 years old.

If I write the true story of my year thus far, it could be cathartic or it could break me. Could be fun to find out! Story tags would include married, teacher, redhead, student, math—all the classics.

True Micros! 100 words, 100% true!

You had me at math(s) 🥰

(Had to add the S. I'm in the UK, lol)

Oh I can't wait to put my mind to this competition 😊 Good luck to all that put entries in, I know they will all be amazing ❤️

Stop stealing my post-its!

I am already obsessing over the theme🤪. Whether I can actually write something is up for debate but comps seem to motivate me a little. But ideas are percolating, some normal, some ... less so.

A strange little something for Halloween.

7,500 words about correcting bad grammar? Is that even enough?

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

The competition's theme song, perhaps.

People play that at weddings. Obviously they have no idea what it is actually about lol

Damn! I just had a little thought, a glittering thread, snaking about the floor beside my desk. Was my inner telling my outer there was a comp story to tell? Could it be? I swallowed the last of my ale and followed its shimmer to the closet where I keep father's vinyl records, the Weimar photo archive, and my cigars. As soon as I crossed the threshold in pursuit, the door snapped shut, leaving me in darkness.

Typical.

And Pixel won't stop laughing.

I’m glad we have 7500 words to work with. I always felt constrained at 5000

Interesting competition. I have an older, unfinished story that leans into the dark side and that, with some reworking, could fit comfortably (or uncomfortably) into "obsession." May dust it off...

Or...

Don't believe everything that you read.

Oooh, this could be very interesting. I already have a title, which is odd, usually that comes last. "Dirty Face". Now, I just need a story to go with it. I am enjoying our holiday, so writing will be very limited. But, you never know, and 7,500 words - you are really spoiling us. 😘

This is my collection of muses and stories. Stories of note include:

Little Bird - A true story of submission and dominance set in Paris between an older couple and their younger lover.

Le Weekend - Six lives intertwined during one weekend create events that change their lives forever.

I don't now what this mind is doing, but it's running wild. See y'all on the flip side

Was looking forward to trying my second competition. Got a feeling I might struggle with this one. Right now my mind is a blank, ok most days my mind is blank but that’s called the ageing process. Hopefully some inspiration will emerge. My last competition entry is one of my favourite stories. Took a while but felt it was worth the effort. Good luck to all who enter. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Another here who loves the theme behind this competition.

I have a title, a setting and a storyline, and yes, it will be dark... However, there is a but... I am not sure if I will get the time to write it and do the story idea justice. It is the holiday season, and we are away soon for a very long holiday... 😎

I just told my wife that I'm taking the laptop on holiday with us. She said I was "obsessed!" 😳🤣

Wow! I thought I was a fast writer! Two stories (one long) already in!

I really love competing with y’all in comps here, so trying to pivot from the children’s stories I’ve been writing to a smutty obsession story. 🤣 It’s a big pivot. 🤣

My entry will be short like me, but hopefully a good read. In my usual fashion, I wrote the ending, and am now working my way backward. 😊

Happy Writing, Lushies kiss

Working backwards is actually a really good way to write a story. There are some stories I gave up on simply because I didn't know how to end it. There is one particular story I entered into one of the competitions that I really hated how I ended it. I wonder if it's okay to change a competition story well after the competition is over.

Yeah, I have done that on occasion. Or at least had an idea of where I wanted things to end up and worked from there.
