Okay, I think you all know what I meant. Anal-retentive, i.e. extremely fussy and picky, editing.

But I like the smuttier versions better, myself. Anyone want to join me for some "anal editing"?

My story is getting close. Probably give it another pass tomorrow. Still not finding the cover image I want. Yeah, I'm being anal about that, too. I have one but it's a bit of a placeholder.

I've been reading some entries this afternoon and, for me, the standard is as high as I've ever seen in a Lush contest. There are some excellent stories in this competition!

I agree. And so many interesting different takes on the theme.

I'm also reading through as many as I can find time for, now that my entry is loitering in among the contenders. Some fab stories in the field already, and still a good few weeks till the closing date. So if you havent joined the fun yet, get typing.

I currently have a draft of a comp story (unfinished). I'm struggling with it. Is it okay to start another one while I have the other saved in a draft?

Absolutely. As long as you only submit one of them to the comp, it's fine.

Will the story list on the competition site get updated again? there are several stories missing which creats an advantage for those listed.

Not sure I follow. The Comp Story List is updated every time a comp story is submitted.

What stories? Did the authors toggle on the Enter Competition button above the cover image before submitting their stories? If not, their story won't be automatically added in the competition stories list.

As a yardstick for 'how to' navigating, even I managed to grasp it, so I'm pretty sure it must be bordering on the self-explanatory!

I have to row back on my question it seems my own submission somehow went down the drain. i clicked the vompetition button but it seems my wonky connection had other plans, so my story is up but not part of the ccompetition. i also seemed to remember 2 more stories i saw published as competition pieces which haven't appeared. but i seem not able to find them, right now.
so just ignore me.

You can try to send a message to the moderator who approved your story, inform of the missed button.

As for the stories published as competition entries that are not in the list, I'm thinking those might be stories that were not supposed to be submitted for the competition. I reported some non-competition entries which 'hit' the competition button in the past. They were removed from the list.

Also, you may be seeing a number of prominent art-related stories that aren't part of the contest, either because the author had already entered or for other reasons. I'll be publishing a non-contest art-related story later this week myself.

I have one in hand but it was an alternate comp entry and I have this weird superstition or something where I won't publish the alternate until the comp closes. Afraid of distracting my audience, I guess.

I'll echo this - I'm finally catching up with some reading, and have read some real corkers - there are some fabulous stories out there that really enhance the competition.

I have currently read, liked and commented on 38 of the competition stories (there are over 50 atm) and can concur that the standard is exceptionally high. I don't envy the judges. A polite request to focus on the words in a story in a writing competition? Whatever next?🤣😇

I have written a love story, which has a believable plot and sympathetic characters, but a minimum of explicit rather than loving sex, which I suppose puts it out of the running for a prize. A masturbatory fantasy did not seem to me what the competition was really about – the transformative effects of love and sex on artistic creation. I hope that readers enjoy it anyway, even if it fails to stir their libido.

I noticed and freakin’ loved it! Made me laugh out loud. I’ve almost published covers with extra appendages or digits just to see if anyone would notice. 😉 It’s still a fab cover and story! 😊
