Authors : What are you working on?

Well, this heatwave is costing me a fortune in lost work. It will hit 38C/101F in Paris next week. Even with the feeble little AC we bought, the oil paints are too runny. I cannot remember a summer like it. Although our balcony is a fabulous place to get a tan - all over. 🤐 If I cannot paint, I am using my creative energy to write. I am deep into Part 3 of my Postcards series of true stories. Part 2, "The Widow of the Camargue", is finished, and as always, I am reticent to let it go...

Hot sunny weather has an unusual effect on me. 😜 It is definitely coming through in my writing. 😘

It was a busy month. Had a health scare with a friend that took my mind off the comp. And before that I was working really hard on self-publishing a story. I wrote my friend a story, they wanted something rough and dirty. I decided to publish it here with some changes.

Now I'm back to self publishing and a pile of different sequels and original stories to write.

Back to writing my series. Lost interest in doing the 2nd (technically 3rd) part of my mini series.

Missed 3 days for drafting last week. Only managed 5500 or so words last week. My goal was 10,000.

I finished a draft at least. The other one is still going and well... I feel kinda meh about it, but we'll see. I have to start another one, which I hope goes smoothly.

As for editing old drafts, the one I am editing is still within its first pass. Hopefully I can finish that first pass today or tomorrow, complete the 2nd pass this week, then from there is reducing word and phrase frequency, etc, etc.

My wife submitted a story of her affair with her bosss, last week. It is very detailed. We hope it will be published soon.

Does anyone wait till their newest story get published before writing the next one or do you just keep going?

Just keep going. Momentum is a good thing. I don’t really change anything based on feedback, so I can just keep going.

Just keep the momentum going. Though, occasionally I do reevaluate and make a story change if a reader makes a good suggestion, one I had not thought of.

I got Persistent Terror drafted too! I've written a couple of action stories before, but jump scares are new for me. If I've gotten this right, I think I may actually have come up with a pretty scary nail-biter.

I don't expect to actually publish much of anything until late September, not only because (as I mentioned earlier) I want to wait on releasing my October-specific stories until that month, but also so I can focus my energy on cleaning up and publishing everything in my Drafts folder by the end of the year.

After the October stories, I'll publish the five remaining chapters of Becoming A Man, all of which are fully drafted and next require the hard work of polishing and prepping that I'm doing now. Next, I'll have a Christmas story in the Supernatural genre. And then I'll follow up last year's "Twats The Night Before Christmas" with another seasonal erotic poem, after which you will never hear a certain popular carol the same way again.

I will incorporate feedback on the fly if I find it applicable to the story(ies) I'm working on, but I don't wait for it. Keep going, like Rowan said.

Depends. I wrote Pink back to back, and started writing the next chapter while the current was in review. I spaced the submissions apart though, by about a week or so, which gave readers plenty of time to keep up.

But sometimes I'll write the entire series before publishing the first chapter. If I'm not entirely sure where the series is heading when I start, I'll do this because, quite often, I'll go back to chapter one and make changes I think of while writing part three,to set up some story arc. Saves me retconning myself.

In other news, the finale of Chloe is written, but Jen is making more edits when she has time. Hopefully it'll be out next week.

To tide you over, I've finally finished my Cuckold piece after starting it last year and getting annoyed with it. It's a Dan Brown-style art romp and I thought I might enter it in the Wherefore Art Thou competition, but I didn't finish it in time so I submitted a different piece instead.

"Cunnus Immaculata" has hit the shelves, and if it doesn't earn me a target on my head from the Vatican, nothing will 😱

Call me part 2 is being reviewed, Mira 4 is about 80%.

My latest flash is up. It's a little different. The next project is a departure from my usual environment- a longer read, and with rather more sex in it than usual for me. I blame having three central characters instead of my standard two!😀

Well, when the blinds are down all day, we venture out after 8 pm, and it is 102F/39C... I am down to wearing a big T-shirt and nothing else. I am writing. Part 3 of Postcards is ready to go, and I think this is one of the best stories I have written. Part 4 is close to a final edit, and Part 5 is my total abandon in words.

This summer is once in a lifetime, but my God, it can shine like this all day if I can write like this. 😘

It's certainly not a new setting, but I'm developing a story set in occupied Paris during the first half of 1944. In contrast to my previous historical epic, which spanned 22 chapters in 1926 (plus three other bonus stories in 1892, 1915, and 1930) and took over 18 months to publish, this will be a single story... but with two or three titles. 😉

Jeux de Guerre / Kriegsspiele / War Games won't have any of the goofy banter or wordplay I usually write, just (hopefully) two interesting characters playing mind games and love games in a time of war.

No idea. I keep plugging away at stories that I have no real plan for, adding stuff, taking stuff away, coming up with new stuff but never really progressing meaningfully. So basically, toying with writing without actually going anywhere with it. I really need to start something new that I have some direction for. Maybe spend some time mapping it out instead of just writing to see where it goes like I tend to do.

I do have my alternate comp entry that can go up now that the comp is over and prizes will be going out soon so I guess I'll just edit it into shape and then see what I feel like doing after that.
